Why Natural Rubber?

Lanco Toys are made from 100% Natural Rubber and there is a very good reason why we have chosen this ecologic and biodegradable material.

Many plastic teethers and toys contain chemicals such as BPA, phthalates and PVC that babies suck on and ingest while chewing on the toy.

Plastic is defined as a substance that have a structure similar to polymers while rubber has a structure of their own and are not similar to anyone. Plastic is mostly obtained from organic substances such as oil and petrol while rubber is usually obtained from the trees branches.

The natural source of rubber is the rubber (Hevea) tree, most often from Malaysia. Rubber can be sustainably harvested, as the tree is tapped for its sap or milk.

Natural rubber toys are:

  • Non-toxic
  • Naturally soft
  • Breathable
  • Renewable material
  • Low-impact and sustainably harvested
  • Biodegradable
  • Phthalate free
  • PVC (polyvinyl chloride) free
  • Petroleum free
  • Heavy metal free
Because natural rubber is minimally processed, it can be heat sensitive. Use sensible treatment, like not leaving it in the direct sunlight, boiling it, or washing it with chemical cleaners. Simple water—or water and vinegar or lemon—will clean natural rubber toys very well.
